Blood test results?

I just had a blood test scan as part of a physical and my results came back "27" even though the doctor said they should be in the 30's. My diagnosis code is 285.9 which says i have low red blood cell count and need more iron but that is her recommendation before I have a full blood scan later on to find out whats really wrong...Does anyone know what this is or what can cause this?Blood test results?
A hematocrit of 27 is low, but you haven't left much for us to go on. Hypochromic, microcytic anemia (not only are the cells too few, but they're too small and lack the normal amount of hemoglobin) is normally due to iron deficiency, and that in turn is usually from blood loss. In young women, that blood loss is usually menstrual, whereas in older men, one tends to be concerned about other causes, like colon cancer. On the other end of the spectrum are the anemias with big, fat red cells, macrocytic anemias, caused by folic acid or vitamin B 12 deficiency, this latter also known as pernicious anemia. In between there are a conglomeration of less common anemias. It would be easier to tell you what you might expect if we knew more about your blood count, but at any rate, the additional tests should give you an answer without too much trouble or time.
Shakin' head - ASK YOUR DOCTOR what it means. SHE knows better than any of us would
It's anemia. This causes fatigue more than anything else, but you might need a blood transfusion every once in a while.
