Back pain and numbness down the leg, cause?

not me but a msn friend asked me.Back pain and numbness down the leg, cause?
if she got this after full activity that she didn't do regularly and after waking up from sleep then it is got to be some twisted back muscle and she tires a lot. if this is the case then why not do some back massage and foot massage or full body massage if she want more benefit. check out below if need more info on massage.

Could be his sciatic (sp?) nerve. That could be the reason for the numb leg, the back, not sure. He could have hurt it.
Plese specify the problem.

Probably a herniated disc in your friends back causing compression on the nerve. Needs to see a Dr and get atleast a cat scan done to see which disk or diskes is affected. don't let it go one too long as there is a possablity of permanent damage.
sometimes that can be a sign of a pinched nerve. let your friend know with the numbness down the leg they might want to go get check by a doctor to see if their sciatic nerve is pinched. i have a pinched sciatic nerve and my mid-lower back will go numb then pain will shoot from my hip to my heel and back up. after that it goes numb and i have to sit for a little bit. it sucks sometimes though. either that or they are not lifting things right. you can actually throw your back out just by picking up a piece of paper. i laughed at that too till a doctor told me it was true.
see a doctor for a xray to see what going on in there
