I have depressive tendencies, and instead of going the perscription drug route, I'd really rather look at natural forms of dealing with depression. What kind of changes in diet may worsen or better a bout of depression? Any other natural solutions? Thanks! Are there certain foods that worsen depression? And are the certain foods that help with it?
Sweets and fattening foods are said to be bad for depression. Try taking Vitamin B Complex 2 or 3 times a day and also magnesium and potassium. Also I have heard that St. John's wart is good. The best thing though, to me, is carrots, celery and apples juiced in a blender. Try 2 pints a day for a few days and then go up to maybe 3 pints and try for a few days. This helps chronic fatigue, fibromyalia, and many other things.
things to eat/drink:
Water - pure and clean (not chlorinated)
Minerals and vitamins from whole foods
Essential fatty acids from Omega 3 and 6 oils
Enzymes from living plants
Friendly bacteria (probiotics)
Plant based proteins
I was told by my doctor to avoid bread and like products with certain preservative in it. (282 or 202 something like that, I cant remember and naturally there is no bread in the house with it to check against
1. Avoid all preservative foods.
2. Eat more vegan diet. You don't have to give up meat altogether if you don't want to. But most certainly eat more vege and fruits.
3. Drink plenty of water.
4. Meditate.
5. Help others. You will tend to focus less on yourself.
6. Take on a project or hobby that will keep you occupied.
7. Spend more time with family and friends.
8. Take frequent breaks.
9. Massage therapy for relaxation.
10. EFT to deal with your emotional hang ups. Google search "Emotional Freedom Technique"
