My endocrinologist consultant wants to prescribe this for me to boost the effectiveness of the thyroxine I take daily (I have a very underactive thyroid, but I physically can't tolerate the dose of thyroxine I'm supposed to take - 275mcg daily, and therefore take 225mcg).
I know they are more typically used as a weight loss drug, but I don't know anything about how they work, what they do and if people suffer any side effects from them. I'd love to hear from anyone who might know?Anyone got any personal experience of Reductil / Sibutramine?
Can't see the link between this and the problems with your thyroid.
Data sheet only gives one indication for this drug :It is indicated as adjunctive therapy within a weight management programme.
If your consultant has read some research which suggests it is useful in other ways since this is outside the drug's licence he has a duty to explain his reasoning and get your INFORMED consent to use it on you.
hi there.i have had a lot of feed back on reductil.i have been taking them on and off now for the last two years.i asked my doctor to help me with my weight, and that is how i got prescribed them.they are really good.i lost 7 pound in 6 days on my first week, then about 2 to 3 pounds a week after that which isnt bad.i am really bad with my nerves aswell and they really seem to chill me out when i take them.lucky i have had no side affects only really positive results.good luck.and if you want to no anything else about them, then just let me no okay.xxx
